Sports Prime: South Africa face uphill West Indies challenge

Yuvraj Singh has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Yuvraj last played for India in an ODI against West Indies on June 30, 2017. Overall, Yuvraj Singh played 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20 Internationals for India from 2003 to 2017. Yuvraj is known for hitting Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in Durban during the first ever World T20. Yuvraj Singh was at his best in the 2011 World Cup. He was declared Player of the Tournament with 362 runs, 15 wickets and 4 man-of-the-match awards.
West Indies have won the toss and elected to field first against South Africa at Southampton today. South Africa will be eyeing their first win in 4 matches and end their losing streak. West Indies looks slightly better even though they lost their last match against Australia. Here is a lowdown at what to expect in this crucial encounter.
The scenes outside The Oval were unbelievable on Sunday. Indian fans raised slogans in support of their team. Most were dressed in the Indian team outfit, and some were seen wrapped in the tri-colour.
Virat Kohli won the match with the bat and hearts with his sportsmanship after silencing Indian fans who booed Steven Smith. Smith and David Warner have faced hostile crowds since returning from bans for their roles in a ball-tampering scandal.
Australia’s captain Aaron Finch feels his team’s failure to take early wickets against India and the loss of wickets at crucial times cost them the match. Finch added that India’s seamers bowled to a plan and did not give any room to the Australian batsmen.
