Going Green I Devastating weather conditions across Southern Africa
It’s time for our weekly feature, Going Green.
We’re looking at the devastating weather conditions across parts of Southern Africa. Two million people are on the brink of starvation because of drought in Zambia and 3 million in Zimbabwe, where hundreds of wild animals are dying in national parks.
Here at home, the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape have been declared drought disaster areas, while parts of KwaZulu Natal have been devastated by storms. This as the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment is being held in Durban as we speak.
To discuss how to cope with what’s happening to our weather patterns, we’re joined by the Chairperson of the African Farmers Association of South Africa, Neo Masithela – in Bloemfontein – and from Durban, we’re joined by the Facilitator of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance, Fazal Issa Abdul.
